I'm working away at a 30 x 30 Blue Tree Collage. People often ask how it's done so here's a very small peek….I have a lot of work ahead of me but am excited about this one already, and being excited is what it's about…..will add this one to the blog when it's completed.
I'm thankful to still be drawing the odd visitor to the gallery and though I haven't often had my sign out in 2013 I want people to know that I am always, always open by chance or appointment! phone 1 902 823 1210
Nearby, the "Rhubarb" Restaurant is hosting amazing dinners, lunches and brunches and I am so fortunate to use their space as a satellite gallery! Check them out at www.rhubarbrestaurant.ca or better yet, take a drive out to Indian Harbour.
don't forget that along with my own paintings I still have work here by artists Jo Beale, Neil Brown, Dianne Crockard, Cyndi Dean, Brennan Gough, Sarah Irwin, Mary Jane Lundy, Carol Ann McNeil, and Mora Morris!!!!!
Enjoy the winter.....I look forward to seeing you soon.

January is passing quickly
January is passing quickly and most of the artists I know are busy creating. I'm continuing with my Blue Tree series in collage and have added two more recent works to the sidebars of this page. Still, periodically I've been working in abstract work in mixed media just to keep it interesting for myself.
I have some exciting plans for the gallery the spring but must keep it under wraps for now as "Sticks and Stones" may break my bones or something like that.

I have been extremely busy and craving to get back to painting full-time. I am presently working on the CBC Radio-Feed NS calendar piece and have gotten back into a few collages that were put on stand-by these last months. My energy had been diverted but it's all coming around now.....
I did say there would be a huge change coming this summer...and here it is. I've moved to 11451 Peggy's Cove Rd. in Seabright, Nova Scotia and I am open for business! I'm operating a studio gallery from here. I've been living here about 5 weeks now and have had gallery open a scant 7 days (weekends) and drawn over 150 visitors (thanks to the Peggy's Cove and Area Festival of the Arts for over 100 of them). I'm showing rooms full of my own work but also am showcasing the talents of Mixed Media Artists Carol Ann McNeil and Mora Morris. Marble and Limestone sculptures by Sarah Irvin, Mixed Media Assemblage by Dianne Crockard and will show Metal Sculptures by local artist and blacksmith, Brennan Gough (if I keep bugging him enough). And how lucky am I to be surrounded by their work?
This is an exciting change in my life. You can now find me in my home Seabright with my Golden Retriever, Onlso and my felines at large, Levi and Moses.I feel so at home here, like I was meant to be. I am open most weekends for the summer and always open by chance or appointment.
I can vbe reached at 902 823 1210 or 902 222 3078

Spring 2012-Very Exciting Times
This summer will hold a big change in my life, just how big is for the universe to decide. I'm very anxious and excited! And whatever will be, will be. I have been crazy busy these last months.
Some dates to keep in mind are: Art Off The Map at FRED in Halifax. This show hosts so many amazing artists. It's for the launch of the Halifax Art Map 2012. The show runs form May 1st-June 23rd.
The Show opening and Reception is Monday, April 30th 7 p.m.-9 p.m.
I'm so pleased to be part of the Amber Rose Gallery in Mahone Bay. This year I get to kick off the season with my Solo Show, "Mahone Bay in Living Colour" featuring 16 new Collage pieces.I t will run for the month of June. Wendy Truswell has put together a wonderful group of artists living and working in Nova Scotia and I wish her and George much success this year!
In July, I'm the Featured Artist at Art Sales and Rental. Also a series of Collage,"Fun in the Sun". I love ASARS and appreciate that every work they sell or rent provides money purchase permanent pieces for the Art Gallery Of Nova Scotia. Everybody wins!
Also in July is the launch of the Peggy's Cove Area Festival of Arts. that runs on July 14-15th. Lots will be going on here. On Thursday, July 12th there will be an opening reception at Shining Waters where they will feature the 12 paintings chosen for the first Festival Calendar. I'm thrilled to have my piece included and I can't wait to see it (I wonder what month I will be???)
Shaw's Landing is full of works for the season too. Seaside Artists Carol Ann McNeil, Joan Crothers, Diane Fralich, Wendy Pritchard-Madore and myself have over 70 paintings hanging through out the restaurant and upstairs. They also feature work by James Pay and Wendy Crocker. I great place to stop!
and did I mention there will soon be a big change in my life???? I'll let you know when I know :)

Transition: 2012 Exciting Year For Art
Happy New Year ! Wishing you all health, happiness and prosperity in 2012.
I'm off and running for 2012. I have a new collage called "Enlightened, Halifax" at a juried group show, "City Seen" , at SWOON Gallery at 1410 Hammond's Plains Rd. Show dates are January 7th-28th. The Opening Reception is Saturday, Jan. 7th, 2-5 p.m. and there are so many great artists I admire in the show. Definitely a show worth checking out!
I'm working on a collage series as yet untitled for a show all about Mahone Bay. It will run for the month of June at the Amber Rose Gallery in Mahone Bay. I'm really excited about it and am putting a sneak peek here on my page called "I'm Banking On It" .There are so many beautiful buildings and viewplanes traveling through on the narrow winding road and I've captured many in what I hope is a warm and unique style. I'll post more details about the show when I have them.
I've got other works on the go as well as I'm preparing to get some paintings ready for Jo Beale's Gallery in Peggy's Cove and for Seaside Gallery at Shaw's Landing in West Dover. And I've started another series for the fall.
So my resolution for 2012 is to work hard, and create, create create! This year is a transition for me and I embrace it. I am blessed and I hope that it will show in my work.

Off The Beaten Path 2011
After a successful show at Jo Beale Gallery in Peggy's Cove this summer and an exhibit in October at the Amber Rose Gallery in Mahone Bay, I'm now excited to be preparing for my second Open House Show and Sale 2011 of over 150 new and old acrylic and mixed-media paintings showcasing a very eclectic body of work. This year I’m also featuring a “sale” room with reduced prices on some pieces.
I've been creating acrylic collage pieces for the past year and they seem to have become my signature. After a series of playful pieces and then my show, "Flocking to Peggy's Cove", I've been working on an old buildling/homestead series and also one I call "Where the Light Gets In", which focuses on the landscape around in the form of trees, leaves, light and spirituality.
I'm hoping to have a good crowd again this year and hope the weather is sunny and warm!
I have a lot to look forward to in 2012 so this winter I have a lot of work to do!

Flocking to Peggy's Cove, Jo Beale Gallery July 10-22, 2011
July 10th was a beautiful day to have a show opening in Peggy's Cove. It was sunny, breezy, warm and very, very, busy. So many friends showed up and I want you all to know how much I appreciated you being there.
What started as 12 pieces has grown to 19 pieces due to sales but not all pieces are there for the duration on the show. It will be running until July 22nd.

Welcome Summer
I have been very busy all winter and spring preparing multiple series of collage work.
The first of these to be showcased is called, "Flocking to Peggy's Cove", where I will be a featured artist at Jo Beale Gallery in Peggy's Cove. It will run during the first ever Peggy's Cove Arts Festival and is to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of Peggy's Cove. The opening reception is on Sunday July 10th and the show runs through July 22nd.
Each Piece is created with collage paper made with acrylic paints. The resulting works are meant to be fun. With many angles of the iconic lighthouse and seagulls and tourists, the focal pieces are two 24 x 30 pieces representing the village. In these two, I've made the lighthouse become a small beacon in the background and instead showcased many of the important features of Peggy's Cove so to establish a colourful community that can stand well on it's own.
I have a series completed for July 2012 where I will be the Featured Artist at Art Sales and Rental Society on Hollis Street.
The final series is in progress and is tentatively called "Where The Light Gets In". It is a spiritual journey into the Nova Scotia woodlands.
On top of that, my studio is now in the Halifax Art Map. This is a fantastic publication and reference and I am so fortunate to find a place in it. To showcase some of the artists featured on the map, I have work at Fred, 5606 Agricola Street, Halifax from May 2nd-June 26th. (and YAY!!! one of the pieces is already sold.
Last but certainly not least, I have over 15 pieces for show and sale at Seaside Gallery, Shaw's Landing, West Dover, where I share the space with my artist friends Joan Crothers, Diane Fralich, Carol Ann McNeil and Wendy Pritchard-Madore. Shaw's Landing is owned and operated by Rosie and Cecil Herrit who have kindly given us space for what is now our 5th season!
I gotta get back to work! Thank you for reading.

Merry Christmas and A Prosperous, Healthy New Year For Us All
It's been a wonderful year and I want to acknowledge Art Sales and Rental Society (ASARS), Halifax, Jo Beale Gallery, Peggy's Cove, Shaw's Landing, West Dover, The Black Duck Gallery, Lunenburg, The Trellis Cafe, Hubbards, Art and Jules, Halifax and Visual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS). Your support and promotion of Nova Scotian Artists is commendable. I am always in your debt. Thank you.
This year I've been in several shows, met so many amazing artists and even saw two of my works find their way to New York City. What I love about painting is that I get to be me all the time. Hokey? Maybe? But it's so true and anyone doing something they live and love would agree. The other plus is that I get to visit Art Galleries and call it work. I love my job. (Okay, I shouldn't mislead with the idea that painting is footing all the bills), boarding dogs pays me AND gives me inspiration (and commissions).
I've just finished the last commissions and gifts (I can't wait for people to see their paintings) and I'm really excited to meet 2011. I have some 'irons in the fire' and hope the Universe continues to be in my favour. I'm doing a lot of collage and expect to build a good body of this work in the coming year. I'm taking valued advise from one of my favourite Canadian Artists, Brian Atyeo.
This new body of work has allowed me to discover a sense of fun that had not yet been present in my work. It's unlike the way I've worked in the past. I spend many days painting the collage paper and planning compositions. I'm enjoying the playfulness and the vibrant colours. The process of paper selection, cutting and fitting takes a great deal of time so a completed piece takes far longer than I'm used to. Perhaps it's the Universe' way of telling me I have lots of time. It's getting me to buckle down and commit to this new journey, to slow down and enjoy the ride...
I still make an effort to paint traditionally so I don't forget how to
I want to wish everyone a peaceful and joyous holiday celebration with much success, prosperity and good health for us all in the New Year.

Off The Beaten Path was a Success
Wow...Thank you to the almost 90 people who made the trip in to my Art Show and Sale! Given the mile long gravel road and two ass-kickin' hills, itt was a huge ask to draw a crowd back here but it was a great success. I am so thankful to my friends and supporters and also to my family for all their help. And, I do know that the 'off-grid' feature along with a herd of majestic Highland Cattle helped entice you in, not to mention it happened to fall on the loveliest November Weekend ever but you came....and I am grateful.
I'm working hard on a collage series. It's exciting creating this body of work and the feedback I'm getting so far is extremely encouraging. One of the first collage pieces I "put out there" to test the waters was sold very quickly (Thanks to Art Sales and Rental!) I'm so pleased to say that "Sunday Lunch" is somewhere in New York City! I have two new collage pieces presently available at ASARS. So back to work!

Off The Beaten Path
Every one is welcome to an Open House- Off The Beaten Path-Paintings by Andrea Redmond held on Nov.13th and 14th.
I’m having a weekend show and sale of my work as an acrylic and mixed media artist with over 100 paintings on display. My home/studio in Glen Margaret will be open 12-6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13th and 11-4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 14th.
For the past five years, my husband, Shawn, and I have lived off-grid using wind and solar energy, on a small hobby farm that Shawn continues to artfully carve out of our woodland acres. The change in our lifestyle has granted me more time to paint and has helped develop my sense of creativity and awareness. My sky is larger here and so now is my sense of space, depth and openness.
Be prepared for a true mile dirt road. If you prefer not to drive all the way in we’ll provide shuttle service from a designated parking area on Shadar Drive. We’re at Wind Serf Farm and Studio Gallery, 29 Shadar Drive, Glen Margaret. Call for more info (902) 222-3078 or e-mail me at reddythree@aol.com

Today I Googled Myself
The length of time since my last post confirms my lack of technical aptitudes and also my attention span. It's easier to paint. I think. Though the lack of ideas can cause a great blockage, I do try to paint or do something related to my art every day.
Today I got a phone call from a gentleman in Vermont. I was excited when he told me he owned two of my paintings. That is until I asked him which ones he owned and I discovered I wasn't the artist. But the man found me through google (or its equivalent)..so I googled and found myself frequently and that was a boost to my ego....so here I am, after a scramble to find my password. I guess I shoud add a few new pics!
take care
Andrea
